These last few weeks have been tough. The clock turning forward has set. me. back.
It does not help that I am in the middle of a vaccine detox, but that is a topic for another time.
This morning, when I looked in the mirror, there were actual bags under my eyes. This has maybe happened three times in my entire life. Dark circles, sure. One eye drooping under the strain of being open, absolutely. But never bags, friends! Never bags...
Now, I am a less is more herbalist. This is by necessity, as I am also what we call a "sensitive individual". I do not tolerate regular doses of herbs. Many herbs I simply do not tolerate. As a general rule, if it does not stimulate the metabolism or the liver, I can probably handle a small dose.
In the mornings, I generally have a cup of black tea with a dollop of honey. Lately, I have favored a nice Ceylon. I brew it strong and drink it hot. This morning, to support my lymphatic body, and hopefully rid myself of these dreaded under-eye bags, I added to this cup a single calendula blossom.
Had you asked me a year ago if that would be enough to help, I would probably have laughed and said something like "well, you're welcome to try...". Funny, huh?
I drank my tea and forgot about my eyes. An hour later, I returned to the mirror and was pleased to see the bags were gone. One little calendula blossom, a single ray of sunshine.
And, would you know, my exhaustion finally lifted, too. I did not need an afternoon nap, or even a siesta. That almost never happens. I shall be adding a single calendula blossom to all of my morning cups from here on. It seems that it was just what I needed.
